Community Conservation Educator – Chikwa

About the role

The Community Conservation Educator will work on the ground in Chikwa Chiefdom to deliver conservation education programmes, build community clubs and support nature‑based activities in partnership with the Frankfurt Zoological Society and the Department of National Parks and Wildlife.

Key responsibilities

• Formation of Conservation Education Clubs and Mini Change Groups with schools and adult community members in Chikwa Chiefdom.
• Plan and deliver lesson sessions on environmental and socio‑economic topics aligned with the conservation education curriculum.
• Support Nature Night programmes, including park visits for learners and community groups.
• Prepare and implement environmental and social campaigns focusing on natural resource management, nutrition, climate change, gender‑based violence, early marriage and teenage pregnancy.
• Assist in reviewing and developing the conservation education curriculum and create Bemba‑language teaching materials together with local partners.

Required profile

• Experience working with schools, community groups or NGOs in conservation or environmental education.
• Ability to engage diverse audiences and facilitate participatory learning.
• Familiarity with the local context of Chikwa Chiefdom and willingness to work in field settings.
