About the role
The International Trade Centre is seeking a Project Adviser to support trade and investment policy programming and to facilitate regional value‑chain review mechanisms within the COMESA sub‑regional component of the ATCMA programme. This one‑year consultancy, based in Lusaka, will contribute to improving market access and export competitiveness for SMEs across selected value chains.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse and address regulatory and procedural market‑access barriers related to trade and investment, especially in the context of AfCFTA and COMESA agreements.
- Facilitate the value‑chain revision mechanism (output 1.3) and support the implementation of output 1.1 and 2.2.
- Coordinate with UNIDO, ITC and other stakeholders to ensure coherence between continental and sub‑regional components.
- Prepare policy briefs, reports and recommendations for reducing trade barriers and enhancing quality compliance.
- Support capacity‑building activities for women‑ and youth‑led businesses in the targeted sectors.
Required profile
- University degree in economics, international trade, law, public policy or a related field.
- Proven experience in trade policy analysis, market‑access studies or value‑chain assessment.
- Familiarity with AfCFTA, COMESA trade frameworks and EU‑funded development programmes.
- Experience working with international organisations or multilateral projects.
- Strong analytical, writing and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
