Stores Assistant – Procurement (Lusaka)

About the role

The Stores Assistant supports the hospital’s supply chain by ensuring accurate receipt, storage, and distribution of medical and non‑medical items. This entry‑level position works closely with the Stores Officer to maintain optimal stock levels and compliance with procurement policies.

Key responsibilities

• Receive deliveries, verify quantities and quality against purchase orders, and report any discrepancies.
• Record stock movements, update bin cards and Odoo entries, and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Organise items systematically, label correctly, and keep storage areas clean, safe and accessible.
• Issue stock to departments based on approved requisitions, ensuring proper documentation.
• Apply FIFO/FEFO principles to rotate stock, minimise waste and prevent expiry.
• Participate in monthly and quarterly stock counts and help reconcile variances.
• Maintain delivery notes, file documentation and assist in preparing stock reports.
• Follow hospital policies, procurement procedures and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Provide general support to the Stores Officer to ensure efficient supply‑chain operations.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good numerical and record‑keeping abilities.
• Ability to follow procedures and maintain compliance.
• Basic computer skills; experience with Odoo is a plus.
• Effective communication and teamwork.
• Physical capability to lift and move stock items.
