Agronomist – Crop Advisory & Field Support

About the role

Modern Bazaar is seeking a full‑time Agronomist to be based in Chipata, Zambia. The role focuses on supporting farmers and customers with science‑based advice on crop production, soil health, irrigation and plant nutrition, helping to improve yields and sustainable farming practices.

Key responsibilities

• Visit farms across Eastern Province to diagnose field issues and recommend appropriate agro‑inputs.
• Provide technical advice on soil management, nutrient planning and irrigation practices.
• Deliver farmer trainings, demonstrations and on‑site workshops.
• Maintain accurate agronomic records and monitor crop performance.
• Collaborate with the sales team to align product recommendations with farmer needs.
• Stay updated on regional agricultural trends, regulations and best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Soil Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience working directly with farmers or agricultural enterprises.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout Eastern Province.
• Strong communication and training abilities.
• Problem‑solving mindset and data‑driven decision making.
