Excavator Foreman – Maintenance Team Lead

About the role

The Foreman, Excavator will lead the maintenance team to ensure high reliability and availability of excavator equipment. You will drive continuous improvement initiatives, coordinate maintenance activities, and support safe, efficient mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise planned and breakdown maintenance on all mechanical systems of excavator machines.
• Ensure work order compliance and prioritize workload based on equipment priority and production needs.
• Order and draw parts from the onsite warehouse, manage rotable parts, and monitor parts availability.
• Promote cooperation between maintenance and mining operations, and advise management on hazardous equipment conditions.
• Coordinate team activities according to the weekly maintenance plan and participate in its formulation.
• Conduct routine safety and statutory inspections, and carry out planned repairs in the workshop.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and embed a culture of quality repairs.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade Twelve (12) Certificate.
• Craft or Advanced Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair or equivalent.
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and valid Class C driver’s licence.
• At least 4 years proven experience on Liebherr and Hitachi excavators.
• All academic qualifications must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority.

Required skills

• Reading schematics and troubleshooting equipment faults.
• Strong computer literacy, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with PRONTO maintenance software.
• Knowledge of rotable management and parts logistics.
• Technical expertise with Liebherr and Hitachi excavators.
