Excavator Operator

About the role

The company is seeking a full-time Excavator Operator to work on-site in Kitwe. You will operate excavators and related heavy machinery to carry out digging, trenching, grading, loading and site preparation in line with project specifications and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate excavators and other heavy equipment for excavation, trenching, grading and loading tasks.
• Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections, report faults and perform basic maintenance.
• Read and follow site plans, technical drawings and supervisor instructions.
• Collaborate with site supervisors and crew members, adjusting operations to ground conditions.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to all health and safety regulations.
• Support additional site tasks as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating excavators on construction, civil or mining sites.
• Strong excavation and trenching skills with safe digging practices.
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and ability to report mechanical issues.
• Understanding of site safety procedures and relevant occupational health regulations.
• Valid excavator/operator certification or licence as required locally.
• Ability to read site plans and basic technical drawings.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work in varying weather and ground conditions.
