Grounds & Maintenance Officer

About the role

CURE International is seeking a Grounds & Maintenance Officer to ensure the hospital’s outdoor and indoor environments are safe, clean and well‑maintained. The role combines landscaping, waste management and basic building repairs to support a healing environment for children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain lawns, gardens, trees and outdoor plants through watering, pruning, weeding and mowing.
• Keep outdoor areas such as paths, parking lots and walkways clean, safe and presentable.
• Manage waste disposal points, ensuring proper collection and segregation.
• Monitor irrigation systems, report faults and assist with repairs.
• Conduct routine inspections of buildings, fixtures and equipment to identify repair needs.
• Perform minor repairs including painting, carpentry, plumbing and electrical fixes within scope.
• Support preventative maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.
• Assist in setting up rooms, furniture and equipment for hospital activities.
• Ensure all maintenance activities follow safety, infection‑control and environmental standards.
• Report hazards, damages and safety risks promptly and support emergency maintenance tasks.
• Safely operate and maintain gardening and maintenance tools, keeping accurate records of tools, materials and supplies.
• Request replenishment of consumables when needed.
• Assist the Maintenance Technician and Facilities team with larger repairs or projects.
• Participate in facility improvement initiatives and support inspections, audits and compliance checks.

Required profile

• Experienced in grounds and facilities maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
• Physical ability to perform manual tasks and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong commitment to safety, infection‑control and environmental standards.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
