About the role

The Key Account Manager will lead and expand strategic relationships with key farmers and distributors across Zambia. You will combine agronomic expertise with strong account management to drive growth of BASF’s crop protection solutions throughout the crop cycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture relationships with key farmer accounts and distributors.
  • Coordinate account activities with regional and area teams.
  • Identify new farming and distributor opportunities and prioritize accounts based on growth potential.
  • Conduct regular field visits to assess customer challenges and provide technical recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Technical Sales Support for product knowledge, field trials, and issue resolution.
  • Provide accurate forecasts aligned with seasonal demand.
  • Contribute to product positioning strategies and support their market execution.
  • Deliver agronomic guidance during field days, demonstrations, and customer events.

Required profile

  • Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Marketing or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the agriculture industry, preferably crop protection.
  • Proven track record in key account management and customer relationship building.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Proactive, self‑driven and results‑oriented mindset.

Required skills

  • Strong knowledge of fungicides, herbicides and insecticides.
  • Solid understanding of plant health and crop care.
  • Familiarity with Zambia’s agricultural market.
