Maintenance Specialist – Mining Fleet

About the role

The Specialist, Maintenance works closely with the Coordinator and foremen to plan and execute maintenance activities for the mining fleet, ensuring equipment reliability and safety across workshop and pit operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Area Superintendent and Maintenance Coordinator in planning maintenance work, guaranteeing availability of parts and materials.
• Support the Coordinator in supervising foremen and providing on‑floor leadership.
• Champion quality, recognize team achievements and promote a People‑First mindset.
• Review the CMMS backlog and integrate identified tasks into scheduled work.
• Identify consumable material issues and coordinate with supply chain to secure required items on site.
• Ensure safety compliance targets are met and maintain a safe work environment.
• Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis for premature failures and collaborate with other teams on investigations.
• Coordinate, interpret and communicate failure analyses using various data sources.
• Contribute to the improvement of engineering standards, specifications and equipment instructions.
• Assist in developing SOPs and QA/QC documentation.
• Support budgeting, component tracking and cost‑effectiveness initiatives.
• Work with foremen to establish workshop tooling best practices.
• Perform any other duties as required by management.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Diploma in a Mechanical field or equivalent.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
• Craft Certificate in HER.
• Current valid EIZ membership.
• Ability to hold an MR207 or MR210(1b) appointment.
• Valid Class B manual driving licence or better.
