Mechanical Plant Technician

About the role

Wärtsilä Energy is seeking a Mechanical Plant Technician to support the operation and reliability of power plant equipment in Ndola, Zambia. You will work directly at customer sites, ensuring that mechanical systems are maintained, inspected, and repaired to meet high performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialized mechanical service on‑site, following company policies and operational plans.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of mechanical systems.
• Diagnose mechanical issues, perform repairs, and replace defective parts.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including tools and auxiliary equipment.
• Collaborate with other technicians to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise downtime.
• Record maintenance actions, parts used, and inventory levels; generate work reports on time.
• Follow all safety regulations and emergency procedures.
• Contribute ideas for continuous improvement of maintenance processes.

Required profile

• Basic mechanical knowledge of plant equipment with the ability to perform routine tasks under supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate findings clearly.
• Willingness to update personal knowledge of mechanical systems.
