Mechanical Supervisor – Mining Plant

About the role

The Mechanical Supervisor will lead the maintenance team at the Kansanshi mining site, ensuring safe and efficient operation of plant equipment. Reporting to the Mechanical Coordinator, you will be responsible for executing maintenance plans, developing procedures, and driving continuous improvement in a high‑risk environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enforce safe working procedures, adhering to Zambian laws and company HSE policies.
• Create, update, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for mechanical maintenance.
• Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance activities using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Conduct daily workplace inspections, corrective actions, and report equipment performance.
• Supervise and provide hands‑on technical support to maintenance personnel to maximise production and control costs.
• Monitor component wear, update maintenance databases, and generate performance reports.
• Identify design deficiencies, recommend efficiency improvements, and enforce housekeeping standards.
• Manage team performance through coaching, performance reviews, and training identification.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or mining environment.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, environment, and quality regulations.
• Ability to develop SOPs and lead HSE initiatives.
• Excellent supervisory skills, including performance management and staff development.
• Effective communication and problem‑solving abilities.
