Planning Coordinator – Mining Fleet

About the role

The Planning Coordinator – Mining Fleet leads the maintenance planning function for a large mining fleet, ensuring equipment reliability and optimal asset performance. You will supervise a team of planners, coordinate with operations and reliability groups, and drive continuous improvement across maintenance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the planning team to develop and improve maintenance plans for haul trucks, shovels, drills and auxiliary equipment.
• Ensure plans follow OEM recommendations, safety regulations and the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP).
• Prepare and distribute the 12‑week maintenance plan, including preventive maintenance, component change‑outs and corrective work.
• Coordinate with operations, reliability, warehouse and execution teams to minimise equipment downtime.
• Monitor work‑order backlogs, prioritize tasks and follow up on execution.
• Validate and approve job plans, task lists, man‑hour estimates and material requirements.
• Lead planning meetings, support major shutdowns and track maintenance KPIs.
• Coach and mentor schedulers and planners, ensuring adherence to best practices.
• Develop zero‑based maintenance budgets and forecast maintenance costs, maintaining data integrity in PRONTO.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Welding Structural Specialist.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work in a multicultural environment.
• Commitment to safety culture and ability to work under pressure.

• Extensive knowledge of the Pronto ERP system.
• Maintenance planning and scheduling for mining equipment.
• Budgeting and cost forecasting for fleet maintenance.
• Understanding of OEM recommendations and safety regulations.
• Asset management and strategic maintenance planning.
