Safety Officer

About the role

The Safety Officer will oversee occupational health and safety for First Quantum Minerals' Trident operation. You will monitor hazardous situations, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and promote a culture of risk awareness across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect workplaces and equipment to identify hazards and verify compliance with safety standards.
• Ensure proper use and storage of personal protective equipment and dangerous materials.
• Record and report incidents, accidents, and health issues; assist in investigations and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct training sessions on health and safety legislation for supervisors and workers.
• Support emergency procedures, including mine rescues, firefighting, and first‑aid response.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and coordinators to implement safety controls.
• Maintain and review safety policies, procedures, manuals, and action plans.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in a mining or industrial environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with attention to detail.
• First Aid certification is mandatory.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• First Aid certification.
