Welding Coordinator – Mining Equipment

About the role

The Welding Coordinator will lead and supervise structural welding activities on heavy mining equipment at the Kansanshi Mine Site. The role ensures all welding work complies with OEM standards, welding procedures, and strict safety requirements while supporting client engagements and technical discussions.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise all welding activities on heavy mining equipment.
• Provide technical guidance on welding repairs, procedures, and interpretation of drawings.
• Ensure compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), OEM and quality standards.
• Investigate welding defects, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Arrange inspections and non‑destructive testing (NDT) activities.
• Maintain welding documentation, certification records and driver licence compliance.
• Mentor and develop welding personnel while upholding HSE requirements.

Required profile

• Advanced Welding Certificate (Level 5) or equivalent.
• Valid coded welding certification (minimum 4G; 6G advantageous).
• 5–8 years of structural welding experience on heavy equipment.
• At least 3 years of supervisory or technical advisory experience.
• Valid driver’s licence and experience in mining or heavy industry.

Required skills

• SMAW, FCAW and GMAW welding processes.
• Interpretation of technical drawings and specifications.
• Root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving for welding defects.
• Compliance with WPS, PQR and OEM welding standards.
• Coordination of non‑destructive testing (NDT) activities.
