Artisan – Heavy Equipment Repair

About the role

The Artisan (Heavy Equipment Repair) will safely execute maintenance work on mining equipment, ensuring both personal safety and that of colleagues. The role focuses on keeping component shop equipment operational through inspections, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on component shop equipment.
• Examine parts for damage using micrometers, gauges and other measuring tools.
• Diagnose faults with Pantera 1500I Drifter diagnostic equipment, mechanical test equipment and calibration devices.
• Conduct 50‑hour service intervals on Pantera 1500I Drifters, adjusting controls as required.
• Dismantle and re‑assemble Pantera 1500I Drifters and heavy‑equipment components using hoists and hand tools.
• Clean, lubricate and carry out routine maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain accurate component service and repair records.
• Keep workshop equipment operational by troubleshooting breakdowns and performing preventive maintenance.
• Support standby work and overtime as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• Craft Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair (HER) from a recognised institution.
• Member of EIZ with a valid driver’s licence.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
• Demonstrated teamwork, bold initiative, safety‑first mindset and quality focus.
• Ability to work in dusty, hot and noisy environments and basic PC literacy.
