Associate Director, Technical (STRIDES Project)

About the role

The Associate Director, Technical will lead the design and implementation of the Strengthening Infectious disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) project in Zambia. Reporting to the Country Project Director, this senior position ensures technical excellence, alignment with government standards, and delivery of high‑impact health security outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall technical leadership for the STRIDES project, establishing frameworks, tools, and approaches that meet normative guidelines.
• Monitor technical delivery against work‑plan milestones, budgets, and quality standards.
• Coordinate closely with the Government of Zambia, USG policies, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and alignment.
• Strengthen technical capacity of sub‑recipients and partners through mentorship and training.
• Supervise and mentor technical staff, guiding implementation to achieve project objectives.
• Produce high‑quality technical deliverables, including work plans, reports, and documentation.
• Contribute lessons learned and expertise to global health security thought‑leadership initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading technical projects in global health or infectious disease detection.
• Proven ability to work with national health ministries and international donors.
• Strong supervisory and mentorship skills for technical teams.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering complex projects on schedule and within budget.
