Biomedical Equipment Specialist – Zambia

About the role

The Biomedical Equipment Specialist will be embedded at the Zambia National Public Health Reference Laboratory (ZNPHRL) to provide technical support for laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, and inventory management. The role aligns with U.S. Presidential Executive Order directives and supports the LEAP Global initiative to strengthen infectious disease response.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) and repair of laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, refrigerators, autoclaves, and air conditioners.
• Support the installation and relocation of new laboratory equipment.
• Verify equipment accuracy and ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• Maintain a comprehensive, up‑to‑date inventory and history file for all laboratory equipment.

Required profile

• Based at ZNPHRL and reports to the Laboratory Manager on‑site.
• Provides weekly and monthly reports to the U.S. Department of State Health Coordination Office Senior Public Health Advisor.
