About the role
The Condition Monitoring Technician will carry out inspections and data collection on plant equipment using approved condition monitoring technologies. The role supports reliability decisions by providing accurate asset condition reports, helping to improve equipment availability and maintainability.
Key responsibilities
- Comply with all Health, Safety and Environment policies, conduct risk assessments and report hazards.
- Execute scheduled condition monitoring tasks according to weekly and monthly plans.
- Collect vibration data with approved instruments such as ADASH.
- Perform laser shaft alignment and balancing activities under supervision.
- Carry out Non‑Destructive Testing (MPI, DPI, ultrasonic thickness testing) and support thermographic inspections.
- Conduct shutdown supplementary inspections on critical equipment.
- Upload and validate collected data in reporting systems and prepare basic condition reports.
- Escalate critical findings to the Technical Specialist or Reliability team.
- Follow up on condition monitoring recommendations, ensure work orders are created and verify corrective actions.
- Participate in technical training and maintain competency in vibration analysis (Level I minimum).
Required profile
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering field.
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) with qualifications verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority.
- Minimum three years of hands‑on maintenance and condition monitoring experience.
- Familiarity with Maintenance Management Systems.
Required skills
- Vibration data collection and analysis (ADASH or equivalent).
- Laser shaft alignment and equipment balancing.
- Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) and Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT).
- Thermographic inspection techniques.
- Data analysis using Microsoft Office applications.
- Use of condition monitoring reporting systems.
