Fleet and Tracking Officer

About the role

The Fleet and Tracking Officer oversees daily monitoring, tracking, and management of company vehicles and assets. Using GPS and telematics platforms, the role ensures driver safety, route efficiency, regulatory compliance, and cost control.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor vehicle movements, speed, idling times, and route adherence in real time using GPS tracking software.
• Respond promptly to system alerts such as harsh braking, speeding, unauthorized route deviations, SOS alarms, or potential theft.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on fuel consumption, driver behavior, mileage, and vehicle utilization.
• Coordinate routine servicing, inspections, and repairs with the maintenance team based on mileage and telematics data.
• Maintain up‑to‑date fleet documentation including insurance, registrations, roadworthy certificates, and permits.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing route updates, emergency support, and compliance guidance.
• Work with security agencies and authorities to recover stolen or hijacked vehicles and manage severe accidents.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 1‑3 years of experience in fleet management, logistics coordination, or a GPS tracking control room.
• Excellent communication, strong crisis‑management abilities, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to work in shifts or provide on‑call support if required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with modern GPS fleet tracking software and telematics platforms (e.g., Geotab, Samsara, Trackmatic).
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and pivot tables.
• Competent use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
