General Manager – Mining & Explosives (West Africa)

About the role

The General Manager will lead the safe, efficient and profitable delivery of explosives products and blasting services to mining clients across West Africa. Reporting to senior leadership, you will provide strategic direction, oversee site operations and nurture key customer relationships to drive long‑term business success.

Key responsibilities

• Provide full operational leadership across safety, health, environment, legal, HR and financial compliance (SHERQ).
• Develop and execute strategic plans, OPEX & CAPEX budgets and revenue growth initiatives.
• Manage asset and fleet maintenance programmes to control costs.
• Oversee equipment procurement, regional mobilisation and logistics.
• Lead senior client relationships and support RFQ/RFP processes.
• Build and manage diverse teams of local, expatriate and rotational staff.
• Drive technology adoption and business integration projects.

Required profile

• Degree in Mining, Engineering or Operations Management (MBA/BBA advantageous).
• 10+ years of operations management experience in mining or production, preferably with explosives.
• Strong P&L ownership and commercial/financial acumen.
• Proven experience in customer and stakeholder relationship management.
• Knowledge of RFQ/RFP processes and procurement mindset.
• Familiarity with governance, compliance and in‑country legislation.
• French language skills beneficial.
