Head of Systems and Operations (Zambia)

About the role

The Head of Systems and Operations (HoSO) will report directly to the Country Director and lead the finance, HR and logistics functions for People in Need’s Zambia programme. The role ensures that all operational processes are aligned with organisational and donor requirements while building staff capacity across the support departments.

Key responsibilities

• Guarantee that systems and operations support the Country Strategy and comply fully with donor and PIN rules.
• Standardise processes and procedures for finance, HR and logistics.
• Facilitate effective communication between support and programme teams.
• Supervise the overall country programme economy, identify gaps and financial or procedural risks, and propose solutions.
• Oversee support‑department budgets, improve needs planning and contribute to budgeting for new projects.
• Provide technical guidance to finance teams on budgeting, drawing and accounting.
• Provide technical guidance to logistics staff to ensure efficient operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing finance, HR and logistics functions within an international NGO or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance and reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and build staff capacity.
• Excellent analytical skills to identify operational risks and implement solutions.
