Head of Telecom Project Management (Lusaka, Zambia)

About the role

We are seeking a senior leader to oversee end‑to‑end telecommunications projects, ensuring they align with strategic business goals and operational requirements. The role will drive the design and execution of fibre route plans, network architectures, and associated Bill of Materials while managing large‑scale infrastructure deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and deployment of FTTX/FTTH networks, including GPON/XGS‑PON, ODN, and passive outside‑plant infrastructure.
• Develop detailed fibre route plans, splice configurations, network designs and accurate BOMs.
• Manage substantial CapEx budgets, track progress with project management tools, and report on KPIs.
• Coordinate multiple stakeholders across telecom operators, ISPs, and technology partners to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Apply advanced technical knowledge of IP/MPLS, DWDM, SD‑WAN, and core networking systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Project Management or related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience in telecom, ISP or large‑scale technology environments.
• Proven track record managing multi‑stakeholder telecom projects and large CapEx budgets.
• Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication; additional language skills are a plus.

• FTTX/FTTH network design and passive plant expertise.
• Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint.
• PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, ITIL or telecom‑specific certifications.
