Health and Nutrition Specialist

About the role

The Health and Nutrition Specialist provides technical leadership, quality assurance and strategic oversight for integrated health and nutrition interventions. The role ensures that services are evidence‑based, align with national IMAM guidelines, SPHERE standards and Ministry of Health protocols, and reach vulnerable groups such as children under five, pregnant and lactating women, adolescents, refugees and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight for CMAM/IMAM, MNCH/RMNCH, primary health care and integrated nutrition‑health‑WASH‑protection activities.
• Supervise implementation at rural health centres, health posts and community platforms, ensuring functional OTP and inpatient services, 24/7 delivery where required and effective referral pathways.
• Design and deliver competency‑based training for health workers, community volunteers and partner staff on IMAM protocols, case management, nutrition screening and IPC.
• Manage supply chain for essential medicines and nutrition commodities, overseeing forecasting, procurement planning and stock monitoring to prevent stock‑outs.
• Ensure accurate data collection and analysis using DHIS2 and CMAM/IMAM databases, track key indicators and lead programme reviews.
• Represent the organization in health and nutrition cluster meetings, technical working groups and coordination with MoH, UN agencies and local partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing health and nutrition programmes in humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
• Strong knowledge of national and international standards for CMAM/IMAM, MNCH and primary health care.
• Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams and conducting field monitoring.
• Ability to design and deliver training and mentorship to diverse audiences.
