HR Business Partner

About the role

The HR Business Partner provides end‑to‑end HR consultancy to designated departmental clients, supporting line managers in the execution of HR activities and ensuring adherence to best practices. The role acts as the primary point of contact for HR matters, fostering collaborative relationships that influence business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Execute strategic HR objectives defined by the HR Manager and communicate focus areas to line managers.
• Assist line managers in developing organisational structures that align with KML standards.
• Lead people‑change enablement plans for major organisational changes, including communication with employees, line managers and trade union representatives.
• Update organisational charts on the HR shared drive and Mine HRIS, ensuring accurate data capture.
• Maintain weekly trackers of outstanding HR issues and drive closure of action points.
• Collect key departmental metrics and supply them to HR Operations for reporting.
• Identify staff eligible for promotion, compile lists for the Resourcing and Reward Team, and participate in promotion interviews.
• Support performance review processes through coaching sessions, quality checks, and participation in review discussions.
• Serve as the first point of contact for employee grievances, maintain grievance trackers, and advise line managers on disciplinary and capability procedures.
• Act as scribe during disciplinary hearings and ensure accurate minute‑taking.

Required profile

• Proven experience providing HR consultancy and support to line managers.
• Strong understanding of HR best practices, organisational design, and change management.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and with trade union representatives.
• Excellent communication skills for coaching, grievance handling, and stakeholder engagement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HR information systems (HRIS) and shared drive documentation.
