HSEQ Officer – Health, Safety, Environment & Quality

About the role

The HSEQ Officer will lead health, safety, environmental and quality initiatives for a premier transportation company operating across Sub‑Saharan Africa. Based in Ndola, this full‑time on‑site position ensures compliance with national regulations and industry standards across transport operations, depots and workshops.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily workplace inspections, risk assessments and internal audits.
• Identify hazards, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and follow up on implementation.
• Develop, update and communicate HSEQ policies, procedures and standards.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks and training sessions for diverse teams.
• Investigate incidents and near‑misses, prepare detailed reports and statistical analyses.
• Coordinate emergency response drills and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with operations, fleet and management teams to promote a strong safety culture.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in health, safety and workplace safety within transport, logistics or industrial settings.
• Relevant safety certification such as NEBOSH or equivalent.
• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience developing and delivering HSEQ training and awareness campaigns.
• Excellent report writing, documentation and data analysis abilities.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements for transportation, fuels and mining logistics.
• High integrity, attention to detail and ability to work independently on‑site.
