Insurance Underwriter (Full‑time, On‑site)

About the role

The Insurance Underwriter will join Zonline Business Solutions in Lusaka to evaluate insurance applications, assess risk, and determine appropriate coverage terms. This full‑time, on‑site position supports both commercial and personal lines while ensuring compliance with company policies and Zambian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse insurance applications, financial statements and other relevant data.
• Assess risk profiles and recommend coverage limits, conditions and pricing.
• Prepare clear underwriting reports and recommendations for internal teams, brokers and clients.
• Communicate with brokers and clients to obtain missing information and explain underwriting decisions.
• Monitor the underwriting portfolio, assist with policy renewals and support process‑improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure all activities meet service timelines and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Strong analytical ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
• Foundational knowledge of insurance principles and regulatory considerations.
• Understanding of financial statements, cash flows and key ratios.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Business, Economics or related field.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases under deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to quickly learn underwriting or policy administration systems.
