Junior Accountant

About the role

The Junior Accountant will join the finance team in Lusaka, supporting day‑to‑day accounting operations for a growing retail meat business.

Key responsibilities

• Post daily financial transactions and maintain general ledgers.
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable processing.
• Prepare basic financial reports for management.
• Reconcile bank statements and inventory‑related accounts.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Assist with tax filings and statutory compliance.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional certification in progress (e.g., ZICA).
• At least 2 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in retail or manufacturing.
• Strong attention to detail, integrity and accuracy.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage or QuickBooks.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of double‑entry bookkeeping and ledger maintenance.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations.
• Understanding of cash handling, basic tax regulations and audit preparation.
