Junior Electrical Engineer

About the role

First Quantum is looking for a Junior Electrical Engineer to safely execute electrical maintenance and installation tasks in a mining environment. You will work under the guidance of senior supervisors, ensuring all work complies with company standards, statutory requirements and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Install new electrical systems and replace faulty or redundant equipment according to safety and quality specifications.
• Document and verify electrical safety settings, interlocks and parameters.
• Follow planned and preventive maintenance schedules to minimise production impact.
• Oversee maintenance activities performed by sub‑ordinates and ensure proper reporting.
• Maintain stock levels of critical electrical components and manage tool usage and test equipment safety.
• Prepare detailed activity, cost and labour reports and log incidents promptly.
• Coordinate training for staff to meet safety and statutory compliance.
• Manage transport requests and ensure all equipment is operated only with official permits.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Valid LV driver’s licence.
• Minimum two years of experience as an electrical engineer in a mining environment.
• Knowledge of low‑voltage (LV) systems, motor control centres (MCC) and protection schemes.
