Laboratory Technician – LEP (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Lumwana Mining Company is looking for a committed Laboratory Technician to join the LEP team on a fixed‑term basis. Reporting to the Medical Doctor – LEP, you will support the health of project employees, contractors and their dependents by delivering reliable laboratory services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pathological laboratory procedures, including specimen collection, processing and analysis.
• Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
• Participate in external quality assessment (EQA) programmes and implement internal quality control (IQC) measures.
• Manage laboratory supplies, inventory and documentation.
• Prepare and standardise reagents according to protocols.
• Develop and follow safe work procedures and promote occupational health and safety compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement targets and maintain up‑to‑date job procedures.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate and a Diploma in Biomedical Science.
• Minimum three (3) years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Paid member of the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Knowledge of Zambian mining health and safety legislation.
