Safety Officer

About the role

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Safety Officer to promote a safe working environment, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and minimise workplace risks.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify hazards, unsafe practices, or equipment issues.
• Ensure all operations comply with national health and safety laws and industry standards.
• Lead investigations of accidents or near‑misses and recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver health and safety orientations for new hires and ongoing training for existing staff.
• Maintain accurate logs of safety audits, incident reports, and equipment maintenance.
• Develop, update and practice emergency response procedures, such as fire drills.
• Collaborate with management to continuously improve safety policies and risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer or in a similar safety role.
• Relevant certification or qualification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of local health and safety regulations and procedures.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and interpersonal abilities.
• Capability to handle sensitive information and act decisively in emergency situations.
