Sales Engineer – Valves & Piping (Mining)

About the role

Petropipe is seeking a Sales Engineer based in Ndola to expand its valve and piping business with mining customers across Zambia. The role involves developing new business, supporting existing accounts and travelling regularly to mine sites on the Copperbelt and North‑Western Province.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new opportunities for valves, piping, fittings, flanges, instrumentation and flow‑control equipment with mining companies, processing plants and contractors.
• Visit mine sites, concentrators, smelters and refineries to assess process needs, existing equipment and upcoming shutdowns.
• Review enquiries, verify technical specifications and collaborate with the bid team to prepare technical and commercial proposals.
• Follow up proposals, negotiate terms and convert quotations into orders.
• Register Petropipe on vendor lists and tender portals, maintaining current registrations.
• Manage existing customer accounts, provide after‑sales support and coordinate deliveries to site.
• Record all activities in the CRM and submit weekly activity plans and reports.
• Report market intelligence on new projects, expansions, shutdowns, competitors and customer budgets.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Chemical, Mining or Instrumentation Engineering or related field.
• 3–6 years of B2B technical sales or engineering/maintenance experience in the mining industry.
• Established contacts with mining companies and contractors on the Copperbelt and in North‑Western Province.
• Valid Zambian driving licence and willingness to travel frequently, including multi‑day trips.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Zambian nationality, based in Ndola or the Copperbelt, in line with local content regulations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of industrial valves, piping, fittings and flanges.
• Ability to read datasheets, material take‑offs (MTOs) and technical drawings.
