Senior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Finance Management Department of a multinational engineering and construction organisation. The role focuses on accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax administration, and robust financial controls across construction and toll operations in Zambia.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounting entries for routine business transactions and assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Maintain accurate accounting records, supporting documentation and ensure compliance with internal policies.
• Prepare and submit statutory tax returns (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Corporate Income Tax) and support tax audits.
• Review and process Local Purchase Order requests, manage construction‑related banking transactions and perform bank reconciliations.
• Conduct periodic inspections at toll plazas, verify electronic toll payments and update asset registers.
• Liaise with banks, accounting firms, government institutions and coordinate document submissions.
• Participate in departmental review meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented professional with experience in accounting within a project‑driven environment.
• Strong knowledge of Zambian tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
• Ability to work independently while supporting the Finance Manager.
