Senior Environmental Officer – Environmental Management & Systems

About the role

The Senior Environmental Officer will provide day‑to‑day environmental oversight for the construction of the Kamisengo Inflow Control Dam (KICD) within the Lumwana Expansion Project. Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator – LEP, the role ensures all construction activities comply with approved environmental requirements, permits, and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily environmental inspections and field monitoring of KICD construction activities.
• Monitor implementation of Environmental Management Plans, permit conditions, and project commitments.
• Supervise contractor environmental performance and enforce site‑specific environmental controls.
• Identify and manage environmental risks linked to earthworks, dam construction, vegetation clearing, water management, waste, fuel and hazardous materials.
• Coordinate monitoring of water quality, dust, noise, waste, soil and other project‑specific parameters.
• Investigate, report and manage environmental incidents, spills, complaints and non‑conformances.
• Provide guidance to construction supervisors, engineers and contractors on environmental requirements.
• Maintain accurate field records, inspection reports and environmental registers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in environmental oversight for large‑scale construction or mining projects.
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, permits and compliance reporting.
• Ability to supervise contractors and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting to senior management and regulators.
