Senior Human Resources Officer

About the role

The Senior Human Resources Officer will join Lumwana Mining Company's HR team to deliver professional, consistent HR services across the organisation. Reporting to the Human Resources Coordinator, the role supports all HR functions while championing the company’s values of integrity, safety and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, professional HR service delivery to all internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with line managers on organisational structure design while respecting budget constraints.
• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment through the HRIS, including job ads, interviewing, selection, reference checks and contract issuance.
• Control labour costs by aligning recruitment plans with approved headcount budgets.
• Conduct new‑employee inductions, onboarding and communicate payroll policies.
• Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS, covering appointments, terminations, probation, performance and training.
• Support HR initiatives such as Access and Time Management Systems that integrate with payroll.
• Process monthly payroll data inputs and assist managers with disciplinary, grievance and performance matters.
• Oversee employee separations, ensuring knowledge transfer, compliance and smooth workforce replacement.
• Track outstanding HR issues weekly and ensure timely resolution while maintaining compliance with legislation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a senior HR officer or similar role.
• Experience in the mining industry is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HR Information Systems (HRIS).
• Experience in payroll processing and related systems.
• Familiarity with time‑management and attendance monitoring tools.
