Senior Technical Lead – Regional Integration (Part‑time, 50%)

About the role

The Senior Technical Lead will provide technical expertise and coordination for the ATCMA COMESA programme, supporting regional trade integration and market‑access initiatives in Lusaka, Zambia.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and evaluate the ATCMA COMESA programme, monitoring progress and ensuring objectives are met.
• Coordinate activities across programme outputs and liaise with stakeholders such as national governments, the COMESA Secretariat and the EU Delegation.
• Lead workshops, training sessions and field missions, delivering expert presentations on trade and market‑access topics.
• Prepare analytical papers, background notes, reports and inputs for publications.
• Support budgeting, financial reporting and preparation of programme documents.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in business administration, economics, international trade or a related field; a first‑level degree with relevant experience may be accepted.
• Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience in technical advisory, project or programme management, preferably in regional trade programmes and with development partners in the COMESA region.
• Strong knowledge of COMESA trade‑policy instruments, non‑tariff measures, SPS, TBT, rules of origin and customs procedures.
• Experience working with EU‑funded programmes and familiarity with UN system management tools is an asset.
