Zambia Conservation Media Consultant

About the role

Wild Africa is seeking a dynamic Conservation Media Consultant to serve as its on‑the‑ground representative in Zambia. The role focuses on building and maintaining media partnerships, securing co‑production opportunities, and supporting conservation campaigns across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Research, connect, and maintain relationships with TV, radio, newspaper, billboard, PR and social media outlets.
• Develop partnerships with local ambassadors from music, sports, film, business, religion and government.
• Engage with government ministries, parks, wildlife, tourism, customs, police and the President’s office.
• Track workplans, stakeholder commitments and deliverables to ensure timely follow‑through.
• Coordinate logistics for local visits and film shoots for public service announcements, mini‑documentaries and other productions.
• Represent Wild Africa in local media engagements and interviews as required.
• Identify and escalate risks, delays or stakeholder challenges.
• Provide weekly progress updates to the Wild Africa team.

Required profile

• Highly organised, proactive and adaptable individual with a passion for conservation.
• Strong relationship‑building and communication abilities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience in media, communications and partnership development; conservation experience is a plus.
• Willingness to travel within Botswana and the wider region on short notice.
