Agriculture Intern

About the role

The Agriculture Intern will support on‑site operations in Chipata, working closely with field staff and small‑scale farmers to promote sustainable legume seed production and market access.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with field demonstrations and seed production activities.
• Monitor crop performance and collect, record, and organise farm data.
• Communicate best practices in legume cultivation, soil health, and post‑harvest handling to farmers.
• Support basic sales activities and farmer outreach initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in agriculture or agricultural production, with interest in sustainable farming and smallholder systems.
• Effective communication and analytical skills for engaging with farmers and interpreting field data.
• Interest or experience in sales, farmer outreach, or agricultural input and seed marketing.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in agriculture or a related field.
• Ability to work on‑site in rural areas, including field visits and outdoor activities.
• Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn new tools.
• Commitment to ethical, inclusive, and socially‑conscious business practices.
