Artisan Boilermaker – Converter Rehabilitation

About the role

The Artisan Boilermaker will work in the converter rehabilitation team at the Kansanshi Smelter Plant, ensuring that critical plant equipment such as converters, chutes and pipes are installed, fabricated and repaired safely and efficiently. The role supports continuous smelter operation by maintaining high standards of welding, steelwork and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair converters, chutes, pipes and related mechanical systems.
• Carry out steel fabrication and welding using cutting and welding tools.
• Inspect converters for wear, cracks or corrosion and replace damaged components.
• Align and fit new parts according to engineering drawings and test for leaks and structural integrity.
• Maintain tools and equipment and follow health, safety, environment and quality regulations.
• Collaborate with mechanical section supervisors and the wider maintenance team.

Required profile

• Full Grade 12 certificate.
• Craft certificate in a relevant field, certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
• More than 3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting.

Required skills

• Plasma cutting.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation.

• Technical knowledge of boilers, pressure vessels and smelter equipment.
