Artisan Maintenance Fitter – Flotation & Gravity Plants

About the role

The Artisan Maintenance Fitter will support the Flotation Plants, Gravity Concentrators and Gold Plant at the Kansanshi Processing Facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the role focuses on maintaining operational integrity of critical equipment to meet copper and gold production targets while adhering to safety, environmental and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Comply fully with mandatory PPE and safety procedures while working in oxide, mixed and sulphide flotation circuits and gravity concentrators.
• Execute plant maintenance (fitting) tasks safely, on time and to OEM standards.
• Follow Safety and Environmental Management systems, JSA, SMPs, PTOs and maintain good housekeeping.
• Install, maintain and repair mechanical equipment in flotation circuits and gravity concentrators with a methodical, safety‑conscious approach.
• Diagnose equipment faults using specialised tools such as vibration pens and temperature guns.
• Participate in preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs and proactive defect elimination for flotation cells, pumps, pipelines, wear cones, bowls, bearing assemblies and rotary unions.
• Coordinate with Maintenance and Process teams to achieve safety, production and cost KPIs.
• Assist new employees in adopting established work procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a maintenance fitter in an industrial or mining environment.
• Familiarity with mechanical systems of flotation plants and gravity concentrators.
• Strong commitment to safety, PPE compliance and environmental standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and support continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Mechanical fitting of rotating equipment, valves and pipelines.
• Preventive maintenance planning and execution.
• Fault diagnosis using vibration analysis tools.
• Temperature measurement with handheld temperature guns.
• Maintenance of flotation cells (rotors, stators, dart valves) and slurry centrifugal pumps.
• Maintenance of gravity concentrator components (wear cones, bowls, bearing assemblies, rotary unions).
