Assistant Accountant

About the role

Pilatus Zambia, part of the Pilatus Group, is looking for a highly organised, detail‑oriented Accounts Assistant to support its Finance & Accounts team with day‑to‑day accounting and administrative functions. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with month‑end and year‑end close.

Key responsibilities

• Process and accurately record financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Prepare and process invoices, receipts, payments and other accounting documents.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Perform bank and other account reconciliations.
• Maintain up‑to‑date accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and schedules.
• Support the CFO with audits and provide requested documentation.
• Manage cashbook and petty cash, ensuring proper authorisation.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Practical experience using Sage Pastel.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures.
• Familiarity with Zambian statutory requirements such as VAT, PAYE and NAPSA is an advantage.
