Assistant – Fence Maintenance & Security

About the role

The Assistant, Fencing supports the Fencing Section of the Risk & Asset Management department at Kansanshi Mining. The role focuses on maintaining the mine lease perimeter fence, securing off‑site properties, and performing vegetation management to ensure safety and security.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of the perimeter fence to detect damage or security risks.
• Perform minor fence repairs such as straightening posts, replacing wires and reinforcing sections.
• Maintain fencing infrastructure on off‑site mine‑owned properties.
• Report breaches, vandalism or unauthorized access to the Team Leader.
• Clear bush along fence lines and operate brush cutters or slashers as required.
• Execute cold‑burning activities and create fire breaks following environmental and safety guidelines.
• Follow all safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE and adhere to KMP safety protocols.
• Provide progress updates, material needs and incident reports to the supervisor.

Required profile

• Grade 12 Certificate (verified by ZAQA).
• Minimum 2 years experience in fence installation, maintenance, cold burning and bush clearing.
• Ability to work under pressure, self‑driven with strong customer service orientation.
• Analytical mindset, problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn new techniques.
