Chief Mining Engineer

About the role

The Senior Underground Mine Engineer will lead mine design for KoBold Metals Zambia's Mingomba project, overseeing pre‑feasibility and feasibility studies. Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, you will shape the engineering strategy to maximise safety, feasibility and value of the future mine.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic mine design and sequencing using the Deswik software suite.
• Conduct full‑range underground mine engineering functions, including feasibility and pre‑feasibility studies.
• Develop and support district‑to‑mine scale models for resource evaluation and planning.
• Collaborate with geologists, hydrogeologists, data scientists and operations teams to integrate data‑driven and physics‑based models.
• Design and implement water‑management and hydrogeology monitoring programs.
• Identify and quantify mining‑related uncertainties and propose mitigation measures.

Required profile

• Senior‑level underground mining engineering experience.
• Proven ability to lead technical mine design projects.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams on large‑scale exploration or mining projects.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on safety and value creation.
