Climate Finance Senior Associate

About the role

The Climate Finance Senior Associate will support the operationalisation of the Climate Finance Unit (CFU) in Zambia’s Ministry of Finance and National Planning. Reporting to the project manager and guided by GGGI leadership, the role ensures seamless delivery of climate finance activities, technical advice, and coordination with government and development partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day CFU operations, including drafting government correspondence, meeting minutes, and event concept notes.
• Provide technical advice and review of project concept notes, investment proposals, economic studies, and policy recommendations.
• Coordinate workshops, stakeholder meetings, and south‑south knowledge exchanges with countries such as Uganda and Rwanda.
• Support the development of financeable climate projects, green finance instruments, and high‑probability concept notes.
• Maintain effective communication with MoFNP, the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, and other government counterparts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Climate Finance, Development Economics, Public Finance, Environmental Economics, Sustainable Investment or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in climate finance and development project implementation.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of Nyanja and/or Bemba is an advantage.
