About the role
The Customer Service Advisor will deliver front‑line support to bank customers, ensuring a smooth and secure transaction experience while adhering to Absa’s standard operating procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Dispense and receive cash, cheques, drafts and other financial instruments over the counter.
- Process foreign and local currency cheques, verifying dates, bank details, customer ID, amounts and fund availability.
- Refer any concerns or transactions exceeding teller limits to the Branch Manager or Operations team for authorisation.
- Capture all transactions in the bank’s system and ensure proper authorisation before processing.
- Count cash accurately and assist customers with transaction documentation.
- Provide advice on cash processes, resolve customer enquiries at first contact, and explain bank procedures and security requirements.
- Encourage customer feedback and explain how it is used to improve service.
- Identify potential sales leads from customer statements or conversations and refer them to personal bankers.
Required profile
- Ability to follow detailed standard operating procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with walk‑in customers.
- Willingness to refer complex issues to senior staff.
