Driver – Field Office Transportation

About the role

Action Against Hunger is seeking a reliable Driver to provide transportation services for its field office in Mantapala, Luapula Province, Zambia. The role involves operating program vehicles safely, maintaining them in good condition, and supporting the movement of staff, visitors, and essential supplies.

Key responsibilities

• Drive program vehicles as directed, ensuring safe and efficient transport of staff, visitors, and cargo.
• Observe traffic rules, road discipline, and vehicle safety protocols.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance (oil, fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers, tire pressure) and report any issues.
• Keep maintenance records, schedule services, and ensure documentation (insurance, road licence) is up‑to‑date.
• Complete accident/incident reports promptly and follow required procedures.
• Perform minor repairs, change tires, refuel vehicles, and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Deliver parcels, letters, and other items to offices and businesses as needed.
• Ensure vehicles are used only for authorized official business and report any unauthorized use.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicle class.
• Advanced Driving Certificate (or equivalent professional driving qualification).
• Ability to conduct basic vehicle maintenance and minor repairs.
• Strong attention to safety and detail.
• Good record‑keeping and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions from the supervisor.
