About the role
The Electrical Technician role involves maintaining and repairing equipment in CEC substations located in Ndola and Luanshya. The position ensures reliable power transmission and supports safe, uninterrupted electricity supply to customers.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain substation and auxiliary electrical equipment to keep power supply safe and reliable.
- Perform repairs and fault diagnosis on electrical system equipment to minimise downtime.
- Assist with equipment installations to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
- Carry out transformer overhauls, rehabilitation and cable jointing.
- Compile and enter detailed maintenance records into the electronic data capture system.
- Ensure all work follows system and safety regulations and keep the work area clean.
- Undertake any additional tasks assigned in line with multi‑skilling programmes.
Required profile
- Full Grade 12 certificate.
- Advanced certificate in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- Member of the Electrical Installers’ Association (EIZ).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in electrical maintenance.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Required skills
- Reading and interpreting wiring drawings and schedules.
- Knowledge of auxiliary switching equipment such as timers, contactors and relays.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
