Field Surveyor – Construction & Mining

About the role

First Quantum is seeking a Field Surveyor to support construction and mining projects, ensuring accurate survey data and compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain benchmarks, control points and reference stations; verify survey equipment calibration.
• Set out construction limits, boundaries, slopes and alignments, and verify lift levels and geometry.
• Identify design deviations and communicate them to the Construction Projects Engineer.
• Support short‑term and weekly construction planning, conduct quantity measurements and cut‑fill calculations.
• Perform detailed as‑built surveys, maintain survey databases and coordinate inspections with QA/QC personnel.

Required profile

• Full Grade 12 certificate and a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of construction/mining surveying experience, with professional registration (EIZ/ERB) preferred.

Required skills

• Construction surveying and high‑level numerical/spatial accuracy.
• Proficiency in CAD/GIS software.
• Operation of survey equipment and data management.
• Experience with drone/UAV surveying and 3D modelling (advantageous).
