General Manager – Mining & Logistics (SADC Region)

About the role

The General Manager will lead a diversified commodities trading, logistics and transport business serving mining clients across the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Reporting to senior leadership, the incumbent will own full profit‑and‑loss responsibility and drive commercial performance, operational excellence and regional expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a regional growth strategy, identifying new opportunities in mining, minerals, bulk logistics and transport.
• Lead business transformation initiatives and build sustainable competitive advantage across SADC markets.
• Assume complete P&L ownership, delivering revenue, EBITDA and cash‑generation targets while optimising working capital.
• Negotiate large‑scale transport, logistics and commodity supply contracts and manage key account performance.
• Oversee transport, warehousing and logistics operations across multiple countries, optimising fleet utilisation and route planning.
• Maintain strategic relationships with major mining houses, contractors, governments and logistics stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with transport, customs, mining and trade regulations and uphold health, safety and environmental standards.
• Lead and develop a geographically dispersed management team, fostering a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience with full P&L accountability, preferably in mining‑related logistics or commodities trading.
• Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth, improve margins and manage large, multi‑country operations.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience negotiating complex transport and supply contracts.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining executive‑level relationships with mining companies and government entities.
• Deep understanding of risk management, compliance and governance in cross‑border logistics.
• Excellent strategic thinking and operational execution skills.
