Health and Nutrition Specialist

About the role
The Health and Nutrition Specialist provides technical leadership, quality assurance, and strategic oversight for integrated health and nutrition interventions. The role ensures that services are evidence‑based, align with national IMAM guidelines, SPHERE standards, DG ECHO requirements and Ministry of Health protocols, and reach vulnerable groups such as children under five, pregnant and lactating women, adolescents, refugees and host communities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight for CMAM/IMAM programming (OTP, TSFP, Stabilization Care), MNCH/RMNCH, and Primary Health Care.
- Lead design, adaptation and contextualisation of protocols, SOPs and integration of nutrition, health, WASH and protection services.
- Supervise implementation at Mantapala Rural Health Centre, health posts and community platforms, ensuring functional OTP and inpatient services, 24/7 delivery where needed and effective referral pathways.
- Mentor health staff, nutrition teams and community health workers through regular field visits.
- Design and deliver competency‑based training on IMAM protocols, clinical case management, nutrition screening, referral and infection prevention & control.
- Manage supply chain for essential medicines and nutrition commodities, overseeing forecasting, procurement planning and stock monitoring.
- Ensure accurate data collection via DHIS2 and CMAM/IMAM databases, lead data analysis, programme reviews and learning cycles.
- Represent the organisation in health and nutrition cluster meetings, technical working groups and coordinate with MoH, UN agencies and local partners.

- Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH/RMNCH)
- Primary Health Care (PHC) implementation
- MIYCN, Growth Monitoring & Promotion (GMP) and Family MUAC approaches
- Supply chain and commodity management (forecasting, procurement planning, stock monitoring)
- Use of DHIS2 for health information systems
- Data analysis and monitoring‑evaluation‑learning (MEAL) processes
- Coordination with health and nutrition clusters and UN agencies
