Instrumentation Coordinator

About the role

The Instrumentation Coordinator will lead the team responsible for maintaining, operating, and supporting geotechnical, hydrogeological and slope monitoring instrumentation systems at the Lumwana mine. Reporting to the Hydrogeology Superintendent, the role ensures reliable data collection and system performance to support safe and sustainable mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain availability, reliability and operational readiness of all monitoring instrumentation, including radar, prism and VWP systems.
• Oversee inspection, servicing, calibration and cleaning of equipment in line with manufacturer and site standards.
• Support commissioning and operation of VWP telemetry and borehole automation systems for real‑time dewatering management.
• Coordinate with Mine OT and IT teams on communications, system integration and server access.
• Manage relationships with OEMs, technology providers and service contractors to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain stocks of spare parts, consumables and critical equipment, and keep accurate records of condition, inspections and repairs.
• Prepare and manage the budget for instrumentation, maintenance and related services.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, maintenance procedures and inspection checklists.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching and mentorship to team members.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate and a Degree/Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation & Control Engineering or related field.
• Minimum five years’ experience supervising teams in engineering, instrumentation, electrical, automation or mining environments.
• Proven experience maintaining and troubleshooting field instrumentation, telemetry or industrial monitoring systems.
• Valid Zambian driver’s licence.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
